The Lakes Glass Centre

The Lakes Glass Centre is a new attractions featuring Cumbria Crystal and Heron Glass. This is a unique opportunity to see the manufacturing techniques. Admission is free to our large factory shop, the Lighthouse Restaurant and the Gateway to Furness exhibition.

Fell Foot Park

No matter what time of year, whatever you just want to savour the magnificent colours and scenery of Lakeland or partake of many activities for young and old, Fell Foot Park on the shore of Lake Windermere offers a magical environment for all the family .The park has rowing boats for hire, a shop with a wide range of interesting gift ideas and a comfortable tea- room, which offers a tempting selection of hot and cold mouth watering refreshments.

Aquarium Of The Lakes
Discover the secret life of Lakeland's aquatic wonders at the UK's leading freshwater aquarium. Meet the UK's largest collection of freshwater fish including Lakeland's menacing pike. Walk underwater along Windermere's re-created lake-bed and marvel at diving ducks. Visit The Quay for a wide range of gifts and souvenirs and enjoy drinks and snacks in the coffee shop with fantastic views across the lake.

Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway

Lovingly restored steam locomotives haul comfortable coaches through the contrasting lake and river scenery of the beautiful Leven Valley. From the Victorian station at Haverthwaite, through scenic Newby Bridge to the terminus at Lakeside, the southern tip of Windermere - a journey not to be missed. Connections with Windermere Lake Cruises available at Lakeside.

Windermere Lake Cruises

Steamers and launches sail daily between Ambleside, Bowness and Lakeside with connections for the Steam Railway, Aquarium, Fell Foot, Ferry House (with connecting bus service for Hilltop & Hawkshead) and the Lake District Visitor Centre (Brockhole).

Opening Times

Daily sailing throughout the year from Lakeside, Bowness and Ambleside during daylight hours except Christmas Day.



Stott Park Bobbin Mill

Experience one of the best preserved genuine early 19th century working mills. Take the free 45 minutes guided tour and learn the fascinating story of the cotton industry, wooden bobbin manufacturing and the people who worked here, Exhibition and shop. All set in lovely scenery - perfect for a picnic.

Steam Days: Tues - Thursday
1 mile walk to Lakeside Steamer Pier with regular steamers from Bowness and Ambleside.
